Joining Those Who Have Come Before Me
Posted by
Ashley
What began as a productive day quickly turned sour when I was cutting a piece of fabric. Never saw the blade rolling towards my finger... however, I soon knew there had been contact. I was very lucky though, all I took off was skin, it didn't effect muscle, or veins!
After plenty of tissue and a frantic call to a paramedic friend to confirm I was doing what was best, the pain slowly began to ebb... slowly...
Now I have joined the club of all of those who have come before me and sliced their hands with a rotary cutter... Let's hope it doesn't happen again.

The Proof is in the Pudding...

Or in this case, the stacks of quilt squares lying around. My hope is that I will have enough to make a twin size quilt, if not, I guess it will have to be a large lap quilt!

Engagement Surprise!
Posted by
Ashley
Today was an important day in my best friend's life. After a pretty rough summer, today was dedicated just to her, and from the looks of it she is pleased. It was a day filled with sneaking around, scavenger hunts, emotions, and surprises... along with almost getting caught....
The husband-to-be took Kim, the best friend, on a scavenger hunt around her college campus, ultimately leading her to him. He was of course a nervous wreck- something entertaining considering that he normally keeps a pretty level head.
There were plenty of laughs, tears, and hugs... and one very important yes.
After the scavenger hunt, there were more surprises. Andrew, the husband-to-be, had a collection of friends a family back at Kim's apartment waiting for her. Needless to say she was shocked and excited.
And some photos to share with you-
The happy couple...
Shock at seeing a house full of friends...

I Have Neglected the Sewing Machine
Posted by
Ashley
For the past few days the sewing machine has been calling my name, screaming actually, but I have been busy... reading.
Several years ago a friend of mine recommended 'The Time Traveler's Wife'. Said it was a great book and thought I would love it. Well it remained on my 'you need to buy this book' list for a couple of years... then it remained on the bookshelf for an additional year. However, I picked it up 2 days ago and didn't put it down till I finished it!
The writing is astounding and the general storyline is unbelievable. I love to read, and usually walk away saying that it was a good book, worth the time. Rarely do I walk away still tied up in the emotions of the book. The book grabs you, and pulls you in.
Obviously I am still reeling from the book. The best part was that you didn't know how it would end. I usually start a book and know where it is going... the couple will end up happily ever after, the villian will be caught etc. But this book I was completely clueless! You spend the entire time wondering how it could possibly end! (And it does end good!)
Well shortly after finishing the book, watching tv late at night I saw a very interesting trailer... the book has been converted into a movie.... coming out on August 14th!!!!! I will definitely be going to see this one, I just hope it lives up to the book!

Upcoming Projects

Fun things I have been storing away until I found a free moment! I can't take credit for any of these ideas, they have been found all over and sadly I wasn't paying attention to where I got them from.
I am always helping with showers; wedding or baby; and this is a GREAT idea!

I love this apron. I enjoy having people over for get togethers and it's always hard to be finishing up cooking and not get your clothes dirty! This apron would keep things clean... and be just as cute as the outfit!
Okay... who isn't in LOVE with this rug! and I actually can give credit for this one! Natalie Malan did a great job with this!
And since it is July, and we all know that Christmas is right around the corner-- This is something else I want to do! I adore this design.
And last but not least something new that is in the store! I love this crib set, and it is a custom order! So if you have a little one on the way come on over to the store! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=27885267

Secret Quilt
Posted by
Ashley
So I have mentioned several times that I have been working on a secret project... and now that the owner has recieved her gift I can share it with all of you! Needless to say her favorite color is orange. She loves it and it is currently residing in its new home, slung over a chair for easy access. She even used it the first night she had it!
The back had to be expanded in two directions, so I used two pieces side by side of the back fabric, and then did a row of blocks from the front to extend lengthways...
This very important square is in memory of the recipient's mother who passed away a little over a year ago. The chair the quilt is on is purple- and was her mothers...
